I watched the exploding lithium battery video. Are there any special considerations for Nickel metal hydride batteries? I know nickel is not reactive to air like lithium is.

I have never heard of any explosion/fire hazards with NMHD batteries. I will do a quick search and see if anything comes up...........

From what i recall from the battery seminar a few weeks ago the nimh battery is: use a charger designed to charge them- not a nicd charger, when they are charged pull them off because after it peaks the charge drops, they have no memory like nicd's, over all a great battery as a matter of fact nimh are what the auto makers are using in there hybrid cars. The nicd in the U.S. is the only place you will find them the rest of the world has out lawed them because of the Cadmium. Also another tidbit when we recycle NIMH batteries the nickle is removed and they use it to make products like stainless steel sinks and appliances. but to answer your question yes they are safe
