how long should it be taken to charge a pack? its a 3 cell 11.? Volt pack I believe. I'm using my dual charger from Hobbico.
according to the book it only charges at 1 amp on the li-po setting so it would take awhile i guess.
any learnings would be appreciated. I don't want to screw anything up

So an hour for a 1/2 discharged pack isn't unreasonably long. thanks

500 mAh - Approx 1/2 hr 750 mAh - Approx 45 minutes 1000 mAh - Approx 1 hr
These are only a guideline at a charge rate of 1 Amp. If you charge at a lower rate then of course it will take longer. There are a lot of articles out there saying charge at lower rates and many that will say 1 Amp is fine. So far I have not had any problems charging at 1 amp and will continue to charge at 1 Amp until there is evidence showing that I should charge at a lower rate.
Nimh & NiCD of course need to be properly cycled - quick charging at 2 amps is ok every now and then, but you still need to discharge them & trickle charge them according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
Don't forget to get a balancer & balance those Lipo's every 4th charge! It will take your cycle life from an average of 100-150 cycles and push it upwords of 400-500 (or more) cycles.
